Seeking Advice

Watch out when one offers advice;find out first of all what he wants.
For he also may be thinking of himself—Why should the opportunity fall to him?
He may tell you how good your way will be,and then stand by to see you impoverished.

When you want to get advice see what

Sir 37:7-15  say

Do not ask for an advice on someone who envies you!
Seek no advice from a woman about her rival,
from a coward about war, from a merchant about business,
from a buyer about value, from a miser about generosity,
from a cruel person about well-being,from a worthless worker about his work,
from a seasonal laborer about the harvest,from an idle slave about a great task—,and the like;
pay no attention to any advice they give, since they will give you what they have(which is not worthy since they are not good at the things you ask )and not what you want

Instead,
1.associate with a religious person,
who you know keeps the commandments;
Who is like-minded with yourself
and will grieve for you if you fall.
2.Then, too, heed your own heart’s counsel;
for there is nothing you can depend on more.
The heart can reveal your situation
better than seven sentinels on a tower.
3.Then with all this, pray to God
to make your steps firm in the true path.

The Power of Temptation

Did you know that the Power of temptation rests on the deceptive promise that sin will bring more satisfaction than living for God?

If you didnt know, get it then cause that is what it is!

The really thruth is that:
It is only God’s way that can satisfy us.

See what God says in :

Psalm 16:11, “You show me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy, in your right hand are pleasures for evermore.”

We all desire happiness, but sin and happiness cannot live together. Sin is a counterfeit of happiness that brings with it shame and regret. On the other hand, sacrificial love brings true joy, and a life of virtue brings happiness. Try it and see.

May God bless us as we take that challenge of always finding joy in God by commiting our lives to him always for that is  the only place we can actually get that true joy and happiness.

Amen.

You are designated!

Acts 22:14-15
14 Then he said, ‘The God of our ancestors designated you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the sound of his voice; 15 for you will be his witness before all to what you have seen and heard.

Observations
When I read the above part of the Scripture I discovered something beautiful, that since I am told to be God's witness throughout the world (Acts 1:6-8)so it is also true that God has designated me to know his will to hear  him speak and see him. That is very consoling to me,to know that designation!

It then tells us what we should do when we get to know that we are designated to know God' will

Now, why delay? Get up and have yourself baptized and your sins washed away, calling upon his name.’  Acts 22:16

Its a call then to everyone who believe in Jesus,to Get up and have yourself baptized and your sins washed away, calling upon his name.He will then let us know his will and make us his witnesses throughout the world

May God bless us and help us to really know and accept his will in our lives

Do you know?

Do you know that some people will be asking you questions only to find out how much you know about the said subject then use it to judge you and not for them to get to know more or to know the truth?

John 16:30 "Now we realize that you know everything and that you do not need to have anyone question you. Because of this we believe that you came from God.”

That isnt your bussiness;your bussiness is this instead

Acts 1:6-8
When they had gathered together they asked him,
“Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
He answered them, “It is not for you to know the times or seasons
that the Father has established by his own authority.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you,
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth.”

Lessons
When I read the scripture containing the above part,I learnt that:
1.It is not our business to know when will Jesus come back, its our duty instead to proclaim his word and be his witnesses throughout the world.
2.We will receive Power from God to do his will/his work/his assignments

My Dear, are you ready to take that challenge of minding our business of witnessing Jesus throughout the world ?We are not suppose to be afraid for it is said "you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you" so God will give us power and we will be able to do that, what is needed is our readiness to access the assignment.

Prayer
May the Lord fill us more with his Holy Spirit so that we can boldly take that assignment for the Glory of God.
May the Lord bless us as we take up that challenge of being his witnesses.

Numbers 23,24 and 25

I read Numbers chapters 23,24 and 25 and here is what i learnt:

i)God has blessed us (believers)and the blessings follow us when we remain faithful to him. When we think of the enemy  cursing us lets remember God has blessed us and  remind God of those blessings and reject the curses for it is said in 23:8 "How can I lay a curse on the one whom God has not cursed? How denounce the one whom the LORD has not denounced?"

ii)To be like Phineas (to get angry when we see sins around and to get on our knees crying for repentance for whatever we have heard or seen that defy God )God really admires that! -Oh God help me to be like Phineas!

iii)When we dont destroy evil altars around us and in us we can easily get drawn back to sining.

iv)God fights for us and help us defeat our enemies when we remain in him

Prayer:
I pray that God bless his Church as he has blessed Israel, help us to always bless Israel,to be like Phineas, help us to destroy evil altars around and in us as well as keep on fighting for us and help us defeat our enemies always.

Testing Character

Did you know that there are times God let us go our own ways so that to test our character? 2 Chr 32:30-31
